Now, Wall wants to get even better. Preparing to enter his fourth year as a pro, Wall plans to work out with soon-to-be Hall of Fame guard Gary Payton, CSNWashington reports.
Wall, who has already begun trying to perfect a floater after watching Tony Parker and Mike Conley use the shot so effectively, wants to quiz Payton on posting up, one of Payton’s specialties as a player.
“Footwork, just like catching the ball and working on pivots and stuff,” Wall said, adding, “hopefully, I’ll get an opportunity to post up this year.”
Posting up may help Wall get to the rim and improve his field goal percentage, which has crawled up gradually over the years. He posted a career-high 44-percent shooting percentage last season, although that was largely due to the improvement of his mid-range jump shot.
