NHL Goalie Jose Theodore Makes Great One-Handed Catch At Tennis Match Without Spilling His Beer (GIFs)

Jose Theodore probably didn’t plan on making any glove-side saves at a tennis match Sunday afternoon, but the former Canadiens goalie made a beauty of a catch outside of the crease.

The former Hart Trophy winner was watching Milos Raonic battle Rafael Nadal in the Rogers Cup final when he summoned his goalie instincts in an unlikely venue. Nadal shanked a return that flew about 30 rows into the stands, and right in the direction of Theodore.

With cat-like reflexes and an impressive display of calmness, Theodore stood up, snagged the ball with one hand, and he managed not to drop his cell phone or a drop of his beer in the process.

Theodore spent the 2013 season with the Florida Panthers, but now the 36-year-old is an unrestricted free agent, and this snag can only improve his odds of getting picked up.
