Nick Punto Celebrates Dodgers Win With Danny DeVito, Who Makes Infielder Look Like a Giant (Video)

Actor Danny DeVito was at the Dodgers-Mets game Monday night, and for whatever reason, he was wearing a Nick Punto jersey. That set the stage for what has to be one of the more memorable embraces of Punto’s career.

The Shredder, as Punto is affectionately known, hit a big home run in the Dodgers’ win over the Mets to keep Los Angeles rolling. After the game, Punto was pulled aside for a postgame interview on the Dodgers’ TV broadcast. He was eventually asked about DeVito, who was nearby, hanging out around the L.A. dugout. DeVito then came waddling over to where Punto was doing the interview. DeVito quickly shed his jacket to reveal the No. 7 Dodgers jersey, and the two embraced with a big hug.

Punto, who is listed as being 5-foot-9, towered over the much shorter DeVito. Aside from standing next to former teammate Dustin Pedroia, it was likely one of the few times Punto felt like a giant on the diamond.
