The Rays were staging an exciting comeback in the eighth inning on Friday night against the A’s, but there was one integral member of the team who was missing the late-inning dramatics.
Tampa Bay closer Fernando Rodney was stuck in the dugout bathroom for the majority of the rally, and O.co Coliseum workers had to be called to come and rescue the pitcher. Three workers were needed to pry the bathroom door open with a crowbar.
Although the Rays eventually lost 4-3, and Rodney never had to enter the game, the standing ovation and cheers that he received from his teammates surely had to feel like a save situation for the right-hander.
