John Harbaugh celebrated his 51st birthday on Monday, but a couple of his players didn’t give him the gift he was hoping for.
After reports surfaced that Jacoby Jones had suffered an injury when a stripper named “Sweet Pea” hit him over the head with a bottle while celebrating offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie‘s birthday on a party bus, the Ravens coach had some words for his guys.
Harbaugh addressed the incident with Jones and the team, and he also touched on it during his press conference on Monday.
“I’m not very impressed, personally, with the report,” Harbaugh said. “It’s not something that we want to be known for. I think it’s not something those guys want to be known for. It’s nothing to be proud of. I’m kind of disappointed in that sense.”
Harbaugh didn’t disclose the details of the conversation he had with the team, but he did reveal the overarching message he tried to relay to them — a lesson he learned from his father.
“My dad, Jack Harbaugh, is here. That was definitely a motto that was enforced in our household, that nothing good happens after midnight. I did reiterate that with the guys today.”
When a reporter asked if he would be celebrating his birthday on a party bus, Harbaugh did the only thing he could — he laughed.
“I’m going to pretend that question never happened,” he said.
