Mariano Rivera has certainly left his mark on baseball, and on Sunday night, No. 42 left a mark on the Red Sox’ bullpen wall.
In what was likely his last appearance at Fenway Park, the Yankees closer was honored during a pregame ceremony and given several gifts from his team’s biggest rival. The Red Sox said their goodbyes to Mo prior to first pitch, but he waited until after the game to bid farewell to Boston.
While the Red Sox were batting in the top of the ninth, Rivera wrote a message on the bullpen wall that said “Mariano Rivera. Last to wear #42. Thanks for everything.”
