Deron Williams‘ ankle issues persist, even if he and the team insist this injury is no big deal.
Williams suffered a sprained right ankle and a bone bruise while working out in Utah, The Associated Press reports, and is wearing a walking boot. A sprained ankle is never good news for a player, but it is particularly worrisome for Williams, who missed a week in February with synovitis, an inflammation in the ankle joint linings.
Williams underwent platelet-rich plasma treatment on the ankles and improved after the All-Star break. He averaged 20.6 points and 8.4 assists per game in his first trip to the playoffs since 2010.
The Nets do not expect Williams to miss the start of training camp Oct. 1.
