Report: Jared Sullinger’s Domestic Violence Case Continues Against Girlfriend’s Wishes

The domestic violence case against Jared Sullinger is going ahead, even as his girlfriend opposes the court’s efforts to pursue the case.

The decision whether to move on with the court case against Sullinger is out of the hands of Deann Smith, Sullinger’s girlfriend, who accused Sullinger of attacking her and threatening her during an argument on Aug. 31. The court has decided to press on with the charges, MassLive’s Jay King reports.

Sullinger pleaded not guilty earlier this month to charges of assault and battery, destruction of property and intimidation of a witness. He has been barred from contacting Smith unless a third party is present, an order that he and his girlfriend have also challenged.

Sullinger appeared in court Monday but did not speak or address reporters, King reports. His next court date is set for Oct. 28.
