Jared Sullinger Suspended One Game by Celtics After Dismissal of Domestic Dispute Case

As a result of the domestic dispute case that was dismissed Monday, the Celtics have suspended second-year forward Jared Sullinger for one game.

Sullinger will serve his suspension during Wednesday’s season opener against the Raptors.

“Jared’s case was dismissed [Monday] in Waltham District Court,” Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said in a team statement released Tuesday. “While we are satisfied that this was the correct ruling, we are suspending Jared for one game because he failed to meet the high expectations we have for all Celtics employees.”

Sullinger was originally arraigned on Sept. 3 on charges of assault and battery, property destruction and intimidation of a witness after an alleged altercation with girlfriend Deann Smith.

The Celtics say they will have no further comment on the situation.
