Jeff Green was not much of a factor on the offensive end Monday night, scoring just six points on 2-for-7 shooting, but he did flash some defensive skill in Boston’s preseason opener.
Early in the second quarter of the Celtics’ 97-89 loss, Toronto’s D.J. Augustin gathered a loose ball in the backcourt and set off toward the rim. Green, who had been unable to handle a Kelly Olynyk pass on the other end, pursued the play and, after Olynyk provided some resistance in the paint, leaped over the 6-foot Augustin to smack the ball into the seats.
