David Ortiz almost got lucky and saw his pop fly drop in for a hit. But Jose Iglesias, with some determined chasing and one brilliant swipe of his glove, caught that luck right out of the sky and gave Ortiz an out instead.
The Red Sox already had a 3-0 lead in the third inning of Thursday night’s Game 5 of the American League Championship Series when Ortiz fought off an Anibal Sanchez offering and sent a fly into the tweener area behind short. Iglesias gave chase, and the result was one of the finest plays of the postseason so far.
