New England became the first team in 12 years to come back from 24 points down in the second half, and a few members of the Patriots secondary had some interesting ways of describing the win.
“Football gods got tired of watching us,” cornerback Aqib Talib said after the game, according to MassLive.com’s Nick Underhill. “They gave us a great bounce and we’ll take it.”
The bounce Talib was referring to was a Ryan Allen punt late in overtime that deflected off Denver’s Tony Carter and was recovered by the Patriots’ Nate Ebner — a special teams blunder that set up Stephen Gostkowski‘s game-winning field goal and assured that the cold-weather classic would not end in a tie.
“Someone forgot to push the button at Buffalo Wild Wings,” safety Devin McCourty said, to which Talib responded with, “We’ll take it.”
