Everybody quotes Anchorman. The argument can be made that it’s the most easily quotable movie of all time. But do you think you could give an entire five-minute news report as Ron Burgundy — about sports in Idaho, no less — without ever breaking character?
That’s the challenge sportscaster Paul Gerke of KIVI in Boise accepted for the station’s Halloween telecast, and he pretty much knocked it out of the park.
Donning a red blazer and a fake mustache, Gerke spouts off some of Burgundy’s greatest hits — “Don’t act like you’re not impressed,” “My apartment smells of rich mahogany,” etc. — while reporting on things like Boise State basketball and minor league hockey.
It may not have quite the level of creativity of Louisville sports anchor Adam Lefkoe‘s “Wrestlecast,” “Seinfeldcast” and “Rapcast,” but it’s pretty impressive, nonetheless.
Check it out in the video below, with a hat tip to Deadspin for the find.
