According to USA Today’s Rachel Axon, the five-time gold medalist will have to take a break from training after hurting himself during a run-in with a fan in Florida.

Reportedly, a teenage girl ran into him on the street and attempted to jump into the three-time Olympian’s arms, but when he went to catch the overzealous fan, they both tumbled to the ground with his knee hitting the curb.

“As a result of a freak injury caused by an unexpected fan encounter, Ryan has suffered a torn MCL and an ACL sprain and will be taking a break from training and competition,” said a statement released by his publicist. “His medical team expects him to make a full and speedy recovery and Ryan thanks everyone for their well wishes.”

Presumably, his catchphrase “jeah” was replaced with another four-letter word after hearing the severity of the injury.
