Someone forgot to clean up the banana peels at the Scottrade Center.
As St. Louis’ Patrik Berglund wound up for a slap shot during a game against the Islanders on Thursday, the center lost his balance, causing him to miss the puck by a mile and leaving him with a mouth full of ice shavings. It’s been that kind of season for the sixth-year veteran, who has managed just one goal through his first 24 games.
Luckily for Berglund, though, his teammates have picked up the slack. The Blues, who routed the Isles 5-1, rank second in the NHL with a 3.4 goals-per-game average, and their 19-5-3 record ties them with Anaheim for third place in the loaded Western Conference.
