The B’s recalled the Calgary native from Providence on an emergency basis Tuesday after placing winger Loui Eriksson on injured reserve with a concussion. Johnson will be available for the Bruins’ game against the Flames on Tuesday night.

Johnson, a Dartmouth graduate, was one of the Bruins’ final cuts during preseason and has performed well in Providence, leading the P-Bruins with 11 goals through 23 games. He also ranks third among Baby B’s in points (20) behind Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser, both of whom have also been promoted to Boston to combat the Bruins’ recent rash of injuries.

Johnson has seen ice time with the Penguins, Wild and Coyotes in his career, recording 14 goals and 23 assists in 104 NHL games.

Placing a player on IR makes him ineligible for seven days, meaning the earliest Eriksson would be able to return to the lineup would be next Tuesday, when the Bruins take on Calgary again back in Boston.
