Report: Raptors Send Rudy Gay to Kings in Seven-Player Trade

The Toronto Raptors are shipping Rudy Gay and his monster contract to Sacramento.

The proposed deal, which is expected to be finalized Monday, includes seven players. Along with Gay, Toronto will also be sending Aaron Gray and Quincy Acy to the Kings in exchange for John Salmons,  Greivis Vasquez, Patrick Patterson and Chuck Hayes, according to a report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

The Raptors have stumbled to a 6-12 start on the season, and after struggling to make a dent in the lowly Eastern Conference, Toronto has decided to go the rebuilding route. The Raptors acquired Gay just last year from the Grizzlies, and the small forward is owed $17.8 million this season, with a player option that could potentially pay him $19.3 million next season.

While the Raptors have been focused on unloading their long-term contracts, the Kings, under new leadership, have been willing to dish out the big bucks in order to bolster their lineup. They most recently acquired forward Derrick Williams from the Timberwolves just last week.

Gay is averaging 19.4 points and 7.4 rebounds this season.
