Southern Illinois Coach Barry Hinson Says His Wife Could Shoot Better Than His Players in Epic Postgame Rant (Video)

Southern Illinois did not have its best shooting night in a 73-65 loss to Murray State on Tuesday, and as a result, head coach Barry Hinson graced us with the first truly great postgame rant of the college season.

The loss dropped the Salukis to 2-8 on the season, and Hinson chose not to begin his press conference with a customary opening statement, saying that what was on his mind wasn’t exactly FCC compliant. The SIU boss then launched into a wide-ranging criticism of his entire team, highlighted by his comparing the shooting prowess of the Salukis big men to that of his wife.

“How can you go 2-for-11?” Hinson asked the assembled media. “My wife — my wife! — can score more than two buckets on 11 shots, because I know my wife will at least shot fake one time. But those guys aren’t listening. They’re uncoachable right now.”

One of those big men, center Davante Drinkard, tallied just two points on 1-of-6 shooting, but he clearly was not pleased with his coach’s choice of words. Drinkard sent out this — later deleted — tweet after hearing Hinson’s comments.
