Florek made his NHL debut on Saturday when he was recalled on an emergency basis to replace Caron in the lineup, who was battling back soreness. With the call-up, the 23-year-old became the sixth player this season to make his debut with the Bruins.
Florek logged 10:14 of ice time against the Jets, and although he just missed registering his first career NHL goal, he played a huge role in Torey Krug’s blast from the point. Florek used all of his 6-foot-4, 199-pound frame to screen Winnipeg goalie Ondrej Pavelec on Krug’s shot to help the Bruins take a 2-1 lead in the second period.
In 34 games with Providence this season, Florek has recorded nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points.
