Jim Harbaugh‘s game-day apparel is as simple as it comes. His black sweater and khakis don’t scream fashion faux pas quite like Bill Belichick‘s cutoff hoodies — but Harbaugh’s wife certainly isn’t fond of the choice.
Sarah Harbaugh hates her husband’s style — or lack thereof — and has taken some drastic steps to fix it in the past, but the hard-headed San Francisco 49ers coach doesn’t seem willing to change.
“I’ve thrown [his pants] away many of times,” Sarah Harbaugh told KMVQ-FM in San Francisco. “I threw them out, and when he went to the combine, he found a Walmart. They were $8. $8!”
Judging by the 49ers’ roster makeup and team philosophy — hard-nosed, physical football — Harbaugh embraces a blue-collar atmosphere. His Walmart shopping proves that attitude extends to his personal life, too, which his wife has come to accept — at least for now.
“I still love him,” Sarah Harbaugh said. “But he did say next year he would make a change if it was that important.”
