Vick’s time in Philly is now over — he hit free agency at season’s end — but he says he’s not ready to take on a limited role elsewhere.
“Listen,” Vick told 97.5 The Fanatic’s Mike Missanelli, via Eagledelphia. “I want to start. I want to play. I want to be a starter in this league, and I just can’t see myself as a backup. Maybe down the road that would be a possibility, but not right now.”
Vick will likely have a number of suitors in free agency, but he said he’s only interested in teams that could offer him a starting job.
“As of right now, yeah,” he said. “I just feel like I’ve got a lot to offer. I feel like I could be an asset to somebody’s team and I feel like I can help a ballclub around this league. I don’t want to sit there and be a waste of talent and I feel like I’d be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t pursue [a starting job].”
Vick played in seven games this season, completing 54.6 percent of his passes for 1,215 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions.
