Talib suffered no structural damage to his knee from Sunday’s hit, according to Nick Underhill of MassLive.com. Talib got “banged up” on an aggressive pick play by Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker.
Talib is a free agent after the 2013 season, so a serious knee injury would have been a costly blow for the All-Pro corner. Talib played 13 games for the Patriots this season. He missed three games with a hip injury, suffered in the Patriots’ 30-27 Week 6 comeback win over the New Orleans Saints.
Patriots coach Bill Belichick called Welker’s hit on Talib “one of the worst plays I’ve seen” during his Monday morning press conference after New England’s playoff loss.
