FOXBORO, Mass. — Whatever caused Tom Brady to miss New England Patriots practice Wednesday won’t be enough to keep him from starting in the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.
Brady still will start Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Albert Breer. The Boston Globe’s Shalise Manza Young speculates that the Patriots quarterback is sick, since he was at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday morning. She also added that Brady’s condition is “flu/flu-like,” comparing it to cold-like symptoms.
Surely no one expected Brady to miss Sunday’s game, but his absence from practice is highly unusual. Backup quarterback Ryan Mallett will get an increase in reps in Brady’s absence.
Brady’s usual Wednesday news conference was pushed back to Friday before practice.
