Sidney Crosby Named Captain Of Canada’s Olympic Hockey Team

Team Canada’s hockey team will be led in the Sochi Olympics by none other than Pittsburgh Penguins center Sidney Crosby.

Crosby was named captain of the squad Sunday, with Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews picking up alternate honors, according to CBSSports.com. Crosby’s captaincy should come as no surprise, especially since he was the one who scored the “golden goal” to lift Canada to an Olympic gold medal in Vancouver in 2010.

This season Crosby leads the NHL in points, is second in the league in assists and is third in the league in goals scored.

Predators defenseman Shea Weber was also named an alternate.
