Adam McQuaid Suffers Setback With Leg Injury, Likely Won’t Play This Weekend

Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid has suffered another setback in his recovery from a leg injury, Bruins coach Claude Julien told reporters Friday.

McQuaid, who has not played since Jan. 19, missed his second straight practice Friday morning, and Julien said he likely will not be available for this weekend’s games.

The Bruins host the Washington Capitals in a Saturday matinee before traveling to Madison Square Garden for a Sunday night meeting with the New York Rangers.

Various lower-body injuries have limited McQuaid to just 30 games this season, during which he’s tallied one goal and five assists.

Forwards Patrice Bergeron and Loui Eriksson also were held out of practice Friday, but not for medical reasons. Both Bergeron and Eriksson are being given some extra rest after playing in the Olympic gold medal game last Sunday in Sochi.
