“He was OK,” Spurrier said recently on NFL AM via Pro Football Talk. “His work habits are pretty good, they’re not quite like (Marcus) Lattimore, maybe Stephon Gilmore, Melvin Ingram, some of those guys.”
It’s strange to hear Spurrier criticizing Clowney, especially since both athletes and coaches benefit from a player being drafted into the NFL. Spurrier had plenty of praise for Clowney as well, though, saying Clowney’s numbers fell last season because he was double- or triple-teamed on most snaps, but he remained a threat to the quarterback.
