Jermichael Finley Expected To Heal From Spinal-Fusion Surgery Within Eight Weeks

Free agent tight end Jermichael Finley is expected to make a full recovery from a spine contusion.

Finley should be fully healed in four to eight weeks, Finley’s agent Blake Baratz told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The Green Bay Packers tight end originally suffered the bruised spine on Oct. 20 in the Packers’ 31-13 win over the Cleveland Browns.

“In some players, it takes four weeks while in others in can six months or longer,” Baratz said. “In Jermichael’s case because of how he has developed and (how) his initial X-Ray looked, Dr. (Joseph) Maroon believes sometime in the next four to eight weeks his should fully heal.”

Maroon told Finley and Baratz that there’s a 99.9 percent chance that Finley’s spinal fusion will fully heal. Finley had to be stretched off the field and taken to intensive care when he suffered the injury.

The New England Patriots have a need at tight end. Any available player at the position should be monitored for the Patriots, especially if he might come at a discount price due to injury.
