Johnny Manziel: Tom Brady Wants Me To Teach Him How To Run

Tom Brady will do anything for top quarterback prospect Johnny Manziel under one very unlikely condition: The slow-footed New England Patriots quarterback wants Manziel to teach him how to scramble.

The Texas A&M quarterback reached out to Brady for advice about this week’s NFL Scouting Combine.

“The big thing, just enjoy the process,” Manziel said Friday at the combine about Brady’s advice. “Kind of gave me a little joke: If I teach him to how to run like I can, he’ll do anything in the world for me. It was pretty funny hearing it from him.”

Brady ran a 5.28-second 40-yard dash at the 2000 combine. Manziel is expected to run in the 4.5-second range. Manziel said it was nice Brady took the time to text him back.

“It was cool for him to reach back out to me after I extended a text message to him,” Manziel said. “It was extremely cool. Kind of a really funny conversation at first, worked our way into a little more serious conversation. It was really nice. I’m very thankful for him to be able to extend a hand out to me in the situation that I’m in.”

Manziel is trying to woo Brady’s old offensive coordinator, Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien. The Texans hold the No. 1 pick in May’s NFL draft.
