The U.S. was flat-out torn apart on Sunday in the bronze medal game, as Finland rolled to a 5-0 win over the seemingly hapless Americans. After looking like the tournament’s best team through preliminary round play, the U.S. crumbled once it reached the most important games. That started with a 1-0 loss to Canada on Friday and then failing to show up for the bronze medal game on Saturday.
The Americans were unsurprisingly upset with their effort following the loss to the Finns. Here’s a collection of what they had to say following the blowout loss to Finland.
Zach Parise
“They played like they had something to win, and we just kind of shut it down. … It wasn’t a good effort by us.” –Told to Pierre McGuire on the NBC Sports Network telecast.
