Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has the opportunity to do something no NBA All-Star ever has later this month in New Orleans.
Lillard has accepted a bid to enter the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, CSN Northwest reported Wednesday, joining a star-studded roster that also reportedly includes John Wall, Paul George and Terrence Ross.
That will be just one course of Lillard’s All-Star Weekend feast, though.
The Blazers star already has committed to participate in the Skills Competition, the Rising Stars Challenge and the All-Star Game itself, and a league source told CSNNW that Lillard might be open to entering the Three-Point Shooting Contest, as well. If he does, he would be the first NBA player to compete in all five All-Star events in the same weekend.
Even if Lillard chooses not to fill his plate with all five events, he, Wall and George would be welcome additions to a dunk contest field that has been severely lacking in star power in recent years.
Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge have been the catalysts for a resurgent Trail Blazers team that sits in third place in the Western Conference and leads the NBA in scoring offense (107.7 points per game).
The league is expected to announce the participants for all three All-Star Saturday events on Thursday.
