Tampa Bay Buccaneers To Unveil New ‘Enhanced’ Logo, Helmet

The seas are shifting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The NFL franchise announced Tuesday that it will be unveiling a new, “enhanced” logo design and helmet Thursday night.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Warren Sapp and current Buccaneers defensive lineman Gerald McCoy will serve as co-hosts for the announcement, which will be shown on NFL Network.

The Bucs have made only very minor uniform tweaks since abandoning the old creamsicle unis in 1997, and the pewter “Jolly Roger” helmets have gone unchanged since then.

It’s unknown how drastic the redesign will be, but Sapp hinted on Twitter than chrome face masks likely are involved.

Chrome has been all the rage in the college ranks in recent years, but it has yet to make its debut in the pros.

The redesign could be a response to the new NFL helmet regulations instituted before last season that prevented the Buccaneers from wearing their beloved throwbacks.
