U.S. Olympic Hockey Lineup: Justin Faulk To Make Debut; Paul Martin Out

Team USA shook up its lineup just hours before its Olympic semifinal showdown with Canada.

In a surprise move, the team announced Friday that Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Justin Faulk will make his Olympic debut, taking the place of Pittsburgh Penguins blue liner Paul Martin.

It was initially speculated that Martin was scratched because of illness, but FOX Sports’ Julie Stewart-Binks later reported that he was spotted with a cast on his right hand.

Faulk will serve as the seventh defenseman for the U.S., and John Carlson will move up to Martin’s former spot next to Brooks Orpik. As expected, Jonathan Quick will get the start in net.
