Alex Chiasson Shaken By Rich Peverley Incident, Won’t Play vs. Blues

Rich Peverley’s “cardiac event” left his Dallas Stars teammates severely shaken up — so much so that one did not travel with the team to its next game in St. Louis.

Rookie forward Alex Chiasson, a Boston University product, was taken to a Dallas-area hospital after seeing Peverley collapse on the bench Monday night. Chiasson was released from the hospital shortly after, Stars general manager Jim Nill said (via The Dallas Morning News), but the team opted to hold him out of Tuesday night’s matchup with the Blues.

Peverley, who underwent testing Tuesday and remains in the hospital, also will not play against St. Louis. The team called up forwards Colton Sceviour and Chris Mueller from the AHL on an emergency basis to fill the empty roster slots.

Chiasson has played in 62 games for the Stars this season, tallying 11 goals and 17 assists.
