Kyrie Irving: ‘Nonsense’ Reports About Wanting Out Of Cleveland Make Him ‘Sick’

Kyrie Irving and his “camp” don’t appear to be on the same page.

ESPN.com’s Brian Windhorst was not saying anything new Friday when he reiterated that Irving’s “camp” wants him to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers. Irving, who made his second All-Star appearance this season, is eligible for a maximum early-Bird extension this summer, if he chooses to re-sign with the Cavs.

But Windhorst, as he has reported for months, told a Cavs fan blog that Irving is gone as soon as he is capable — and that makes Irving “sick.”

Irving angrily took to Twitter on Friday night to denounce the latest report, which was actually just restating an old report, but whatever. Regardless, Irving was not happy.

Here’s what got Irving all riled up: “The truth is, his camp has been putting out there for years — years — that he doesn’t want to be in Cleveland,” Windhorst told CavsTheBlog. “That they don’t want him in Cleveland. He doesn’t like Mike Brown. He didn’t like (former general manager) Chris Grant. He doesn’t like Dion Waiters. He’s already gotten a general manager fired. He might get Mike Brown fired. This is the last time — once he signs, he loses all of his leverage — so this is the last time he gets to enact leverage.”

The Cavs are effectively out of the playoff picture after Friday’s loss to the Atlanta Hawks, dropping them four games behind eighth-place Atlanta in the loss column. Irving has finally gotten some help from Waiters and others after looking lonely early in the season, but Cleveland looks to be headed for another early offseason — perhaps their last with Irving on the team.
