Poor College Hoops Fan Forgets To Finish Bracket, Loses Shot At $100K

It’s been known for weeks that nobody would win the grand prize in Yahoo! Sports’ Quicken Loans Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge.

The top 20 finishers in the competition still take home $100,000 apiece, though, and the creator of “Corey’s Champion Bracket” — who currently ranks fourth after correctly picking three of the teams in the Final Four and both national finalists — should be in prime position to claim the cash.

There’s only one problem: “Corey” forgot to pick a champion. That means that after coming so close in what was one of the more unpredictable tournaments in recent memory, the poor bracket-maker will — like the majority of March Madness enthusiasts — walk away with nothing.

“Corey’s Champion Bracket” is destined for misery, but “Cory’s Champion Bracket” is actually sitting pretty. The creator of that one correctly picked all four national semifinalists and had both UConn and Kentucky advancing to the championship game. He or she also made sure to follow the bracket through to completion, picking UConn to take home the title by a final score of 65-63.

“Cory” currently sits tied for 10th in the Billion Dollar Bracket Challenge and surely will be cheering harder than ever for the Huskies on Monday night.
