Rajon Rondo Visits Injured Soldier, Jokes About Having Photo Taken

Rajon Rondo isn’t known as the most personable of professional athletes, but Army Sgt. Brandon Korona still was taken aback when the Boston Celtics point guard initially refused to have his photo taken with him.

“He looked at me and was like, ‘Dude, I’m just kidding. April Fools’,’ ” Korona recalled to WCVB’s Jorge Quiroga. “So they got me. It was pretty funny.”

Korona, a native of Raynham, Mass., has spent the last 10 months at Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington D.C., receiving treatment on his left leg, which was badly shattered by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, according to WCVB.com. Rondo visited the hospital last week before the Celtics’ game against the Wizards, the same day Boston Red Sox players dropped by as part of their trip to the capital.

Many photos of the visits are posted here.
