Report: Doc Rivers Will Leave Clippers If Donald Sterling Remains Owner

Los Angeles Clippers fans have waited so long for their team to be relevant — in a good way, for once — and just when they have a squad worth rooting for, it all could be unraveling because of their bigoted owner.

Doc Rivers will not return as the team’s head coach and president if Donald Sterling remains owner of the Clippers, sources told Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski. It would be “the beginning of a player mutiny that could result with several top Clippers also demanding out of the franchise,” Wojnarowski writes.

In other words, say so long to Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and the rest of the band.

The controversy erupted over a recording posted Saturday of Sterling going on a racist rant to his assistant, V. Stiviano. The NBA on Monday authenticated the voice in the recording as Sterling’s, and commissioner Adam Silver has scheduled a 2 p.m. Tuesday news conference to announce the findings of a league investigation.
