Director’s Cut: NESN’s Red Sox Crew Enjoys Perks Of Flying Private (Photos)

Editor’s note: Michael Narracci is the coordinating director of Red Sox broadcasts on NESN and has spent 14 seasons with the network. This is the first installment of his “Director’s Cut,” a behind-the-scenes look at NESN’s Red Sox game coverage.

MINNEAPOLIS — NESN’s Red Sox crew generally flies from city to city on the team charter, but on the Texas-to-Minnesota leg of our road trip, we were invited by Jerry Remy’s friend, Bob Levine, to travel on his private jet — a Gulfstream IV.

The “Corporate Warrior” is an amazing aircraft, and if you ever have the chance to fly in a private jet, do it. It’s the only way to travel.

Last year, Bob hosted us when we flew from Tampa to Minnesota, and we all appreciate his generosity. We had a very relaxed 1-hour, 44-minute flight with food, drinks and a lot of laughs. I also got a real sense of appreciation for how hard the flight crew on the Red Sox charter works, since I assisted Bob with serving food and drinks.

Another cool experience was sitting in the jump seat behind the cockpit during landing.  On a commercial flight, when you are sitting in the regular cabin, the landing seems to take forever.  But it’s much quicker when you’re looking through the windshield in the cockpit.
