May 1, 2014

Jake PeavyIt rained on Boston’s parade on Wednesday night, as a bout of evening showers washed out the second game of the Red Sox’s three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park.

The Sox will work double-time to complete the three-game set on Thursday, playing a day-night doubleheader against the Rays with the first game set to start at 1:05 p.m.

Taking the mound for Boston in the first game will be righthander Jake Peavy, who picked up his first win of the 2014 season in his last outing with a masterful seven-strikeout performance against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Peavy will be caught by catcher David Ross, who returns to the Red Sox lineup — batting seventh — after three days off. Aside from Ross, Boston’s lineup remains relatively unchanged against Rays pitcher Cesar Ramos, who also picked up his first win of the season in his last start against the Chicago White Sox.
