John Daly Doesn’t Regret Gambling Away $55M: ‘I Had A Lot Of Fun Doing It’

To say that two-time major-winning golfer John Daly gambled hard, would be a serious understatement.

Daly was a guest on “In Depth With Graham Bensinger” this week, and the controversial golfer, who battled alcohol and gambling addictions throughout his career, was candid about how much his gambling cost him.

After going through his tax records while researching for his book, Daly estimates he lost around $55-57 million between 1991-2007.

Daly also revealed that there were times when he played all seven hands on a blackjack table, betting as much as $15,000 per hand. In addition, he divulged that he played slot machines with a minimum required bet of $5,000 per spin and the 48-year-old would sometimes stay at a casino for up to 48 hours straight, only taking a break to go to the bathroom.

“I’ve played slots for two days in a row,” Daly said. “I’ve played blackjack for two days. One sitting. The only time I’d get up is to go to the bathroom. Time goes by so fast and if you’re on a roll and you’re winning, I’d just keep on going, keep on playing.”

Daly’s gambling habits were certainly out of control and cost him a pretty penny, but he isn’t beating himself over the past.

“I should say I regret it,” Daly says. “But I did it, I move on from it, I had a lot of fun doing it.”
