Rangers’ Alain Vigneault Responds To Michel Therrien’s Derick Brassard Injury Comments

New York Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault was not happy with Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien’s comments about Derick Brassard’s injury during Saturday’s media availability.

Therrien said his team knows where the Rangers center is injured.

Vigneault fired back Sunday morning.

Therrien wasn’t saying that the Canadiens would intentionally hurt Brassard based on the information they have about his injury, but there’s no question that players’ injuries are targeted to a certain level in the playoffs. It’s something teams look to exploit because they are always looking for some sort of advantage.

According to the New York Post, Therrien might receive a warning for his comments.

Brassard, who’s been nursing an upper body injury, has missed all three games of the Rangers-Habs Eastern Conference final, which resumes Sunday night at Madison Square Garden for Game 4. The third-line center told reporters Saturday that he would play in Game 4. He was an important part of the Blueshirts’ first and second-round playoff series victories over the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins with seven points (four goals, three assists) in 15 games.
