Report: 10-Plus NFL Draft Prospects Flagged For Drug Test At Combine

The record number of underclassmen who declared for the 2014 NFL draft brought increased immaturity to the NFL Scouting Combine.

More than 10 prospects were flagged for drug tests in February, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported Monday. LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger and Florida State defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan each had diluted urine samples, which would trigger a failed test in the NFL’s drug program.

Florida State linebackers Telvin Smith and Christian Jones, LSU defensive tackle Anthony Johnson and Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson also failed their combine drug tests.

Jernigan is projected as a fringe first-round pick, while Mettenberger, Smith and Jones are expected to be selected on the second day of the draft. Johnson is projected as a fourth-rounder, and Henderson, after a disappointing college career and Miami pro day, is projected as a fifth-round pick, though his failed drug test could knock him down even further.
