A’s Catchers John Jaso, Stephen Vogt Race To Gear Up In Dugout (Video)

Don’t ever accuse Oakland A’s catchers John Jaso and Stephen Vogt of being unprepared.

Fellow A’s backstop Derek Norris has been taking a beating behind the plate recently, so when Norris was struck in the hand by a Yangervis Solarte backswing during Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees, both Jaso and Vogt sprung into action.

The catchers, apparently hellbent on replacing their injured teammate, both scrambled to gather their equipment, racing to see who could fully gear up first as A’s manager Bob Melvin and the team trainer attended to Norris at home plate.

Norris ended up remaining in the game, but by that point, both Vogt and Jaso had gotten fully dressed, resulting in this rather amusing image as Melvin returned to the dugout.

Norris had the best day at the plate of any Oakland hitter, going 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and the A’s cruised to a 10-5 victory. Vogt and Jaso, despite their best efforts, never entered the game.
