New York Mets Catcher Anthony Recker Breaks Bat Over Knee (Video)

Times are tough in Flushing, N.Y.

The New York Mets are in the midst of another losing season, so frustration is mounting. Not only was relief pitcher Carlos Torres visibly angry with himself last night, but catcher Anthony Recker joined in on the antics.

In the bottom of the 11th inning, Recker came up with a bases-loaded opportunity and a chance to send the Mets home with a win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The catcher worked the count to 2-2 and then took a pitch, which Recker thought was low for ball three. Umpire Angel Hernandez, however, felt otherwise, and rung up Recker to end the frame.

Recker turned around immediately, barking at Hernandez. The home plate umpire quickly saw enough, and ejected the catcher from the game. After the tirade, Recker went into the dugout and smashed his bat over his knee.

To make matters worse for the Mets, the Brewers would go on to win 5-1 in 13 innings, handing New York its eighth loss in nine games.
