Red Sox ‘Stars and Stripes’ Cap For Fourth Of July Game Revealed (Photo)

Major League Baseball released Tuesday the caps each team will wear this Fourth of July, and they’re a bit different than the headwear worn in years past.

Since the league began the tradition of wearing one-off caps on holidays, the Independence Day editions always have been some combination of red, white and blue, with a few stars thrown in on occasion. Here’s a look at last year’s design.

The 2014 versions will feature a similar stars and stripes theme but include a giant star on the crown, positioned behind the team logo and bearing an image of the American flag.

Here’s what they’ll look like for last year’s pennant winners — the Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals:

MLB will donate 100 percent of the net proceeds from cap sales to the Welcome Back Veterans program.
