Report: Brandon Flowers, Chargers Agree To One-Year Contract In Free Agency

The New England Patriots won’t be signing another Pro Bowl-caliber free-agent cornerback this offseason.

Brandon Flowers and the San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms on a contract, CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora reported Tuesday. Flowers’ contract is a one-year deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

Flowers was released by the Kansas City Chiefs on June 13, and the Patriots reportedly were “in the mix” for his services.

Flowers was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013 after recording 68 tackles, one interception and one sack for the Chiefs. He signed a five-year, $50 million contract in 2011, and his high salary played into the Chiefs’ decision to release him.

Flowers joins a secondary featuring 2014 first-round draft pick Jason Verrett and four-time All-Pro safety Eric Weddle.
