New England Patriots v New York JetsThe New York Jets have joined the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs in making their season tickets paperless, but they’ve also added a rather interesting rewards program.

This upcoming season, Jets season ticket holders can earn points essentially for going to games at MetLife Stadium and not getting kicked out. They don’t need to purchase anything at the stadium. They simply need to show up.

“The message is to come to the games and be a good fan — they don’t have to do anything out of the ordinary — and their loyalty is rewarded,” Seth Rabinowitz, the Jets’ vice president of marketing and fan engagement, told the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Season ticket holders will now have smart cards that will automatically tally their points, which are good for prizes that range in value from Super Bowl tickets to autograph sessions. The rewards points increase after a fan attends seven of their 10 home games.

“We are saying that we want you there and will reward you for coming, for cheering your lungs out,” Rabinowitz said. “Hopefully, these rewards are like pennies from heaven.”

If the owner of the tickets can’t attend a game, the fan who does attend can make his or her own rewards account. But if season ticket holder choose to sell the tickets, they have to do so through the Jets’ official ticket exchange.
