Red Sox Prospect Sean Coyle Named Eastern League Player Of The Month

Portland Sea Dogs infielder Sean Coyle was honored Tuesday as the Eastern League’s Player of the Month for June.

Coyle, a third-round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in 2010, has torn the cover off the ball in his first season at Double-A, leading all Eastern League hitters in slugging percentage (.603) and OPS (1.027) through 60 games with the Sea Dogs.

Coyle swung the bat especially well in the month of June, recording hits in 21 of his 26 games while posting a .348/.450/.652 slash line. In his last 10 games alone, Coyle has batted .303 (10-for-33) with three home runs and 15 RBIs.

In all, the 22-year-old boasts a .348 average with 11 homers and 47 RBIs this season and is on pace to set career highs in nearly every offensive category:

Coyle will join Portland teammates Henry Owens, Blake Swihart, Derrik Gibson and Brian Johnson at the Eastern League All-Star Game next Wednesday.
