Rookie hazing is part of NFL training camps every season. But volunteering to be hazed? That’s a bit different.
That’s exactly what Washington Redskins rookie kicker Zach Hocker did, going up for his skit and saying words he would later regret Wednesday night.
“I’ll cut my hair however you want to cut it,” Hocker told his 89 teammates.
Hocker then showed them three options, allowing the players to pick how he will wear his hair. The final verdict has made him a hit around the internet, and certainly the laughingstock of Redskins training camp.

“I kind of regret it now,” Hocker said Thursday. “In the moment it was fun, but now I wish I had thought of something funny for the team … I didn’t anticipate this. I got up on the stage, and they put up three pictures for the team to vote on. This was my look. They let me have it, and there I went.”
The hair cut has to stay as is for at least a week, Hocker’s veteran teammates said.
“I really didn’t expect all the hype around it because a lot of rookies get their hair cut, but I guess this is taking it to another level,” Hocker said. “I’m glad everybody’s liking it.”
