Brandon Workman Wins Amica Pitcher Of The Week
After losing five consecutive starts and posting a 6.04 ERA over 28 1/3 innings, Workman saw his turn in the rotation get skipped last week, as Anthony Ranaudo got the nod instead.
But Workman bounced back in a big way when he returned to the mound Monday night against the Los Angeles Angels.
Facing a dangerous lineup, Workman held Mike Trout and Co. to just two runs on six hits over seven innings of work. Although he ended up taking the loss in the Angels’ 4-2 win, Workman looked crisp and his velocity looked strong during his seven innings of solid work.
Despite the loss, it was Workman’s best outing in the last couple of months after giving up 14 runs on 18 hits in his previous three starts combined.
